Welcome to Mkulumadzi
Robin Pope Safaris is proud to introduce Mkulumadzi, an exclusive luxury lodge in Southern Malawi set on a lush riverbank within Majete Wildlife Reserve.
The lodge has eight superb chalets, each with spacious living quarters and private viewing deck. Guests can swim in our pool, dine under the stars, enjoy river cruises, game drives and walking safaris.
Majete Wildlife Reserve is a vast region of mature woodland and granite hills, picturesque river valleys and dense forest. It is home to the elusive black rhino, along with elephant, buffalo, nyala, sable, eland and hartebeest. Four leopards were reintroduced in 2011/12 as part of a pioneering conservation project. There are also plans in place to reintroduce lions in 2012 which will make Majete a Big 5 Reserve.
Undiscovered by tourists, Majete is a true wilderness where every trip into the bush with our team of experienced guides will feel like an adventure.
Surrounded by 7,000 hectares of private concession, Mkulumadzi enjoys an idyllic location at the confluence of two rivers shaded by giant leadwood trees. It is the perfect combination of splendid isolation and first-class facilities.
Mkulumadzi is owned and managed by Robin Pope Safaris, which was founded in 1986 and has earned a reputation as Africa’s leading safari company. The standards of accommodation, hospitality, guiding and catering are second to none.
At Mkulumadzi you can be as active or as idle as you wish. Head into the bush to track rhino, hike to the peak of Majete Hill, take a cultural tour of local villages or simply lounge on the shaded riverbank listening to the gentle grunt of hippos.
